AVC Build designed, supplied, delivered and installed this made-to-measure wall-mounted aluminium pergola at a residential property in Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare. The structure covers a raised terrace with an opaque trapezoidal sheet roof and integrated rainwater drainage. LED lighting requested by the homeowner makes the new outdoor area practical and welcoming after dark as well as during the day.

Supporting the Pergola Across Different Mounting Levels
The existing terrace is raised above the surrounding gravel and bordered by low masonry walls. This meant the pergola supports could not all be installed at the same ground position. Some posts had to stand at terrace level, while others were positioned securely on the existing wall sections that define the outdoor area.
Careful setting-out allowed these different support points to work as one aligned structure. The post positions and lengths were coordinated so the front beam remained level and the wall-mounted roof connected neatly with the house across the full width of the terrace.
The opaque trapezoidal sheet roof creates dependable overhead protection and defines the terrace as a distinct outdoor living area. Integrated drainage collects rainwater from the roof and directs it through the aluminium system rather than allowing uncontrolled runoff around the covered space.
At the homeowner’s request, LED lights were incorporated beneath the roof. The night photograph shows how evenly they illuminate the terrace, extending its practical use into the evening and creating a comfortable atmosphere without requiring separate temporary lighting.
No side walls were added, so the completed pergola retains open access and views across the surrounding garden. The permanent roof, drainage and lighting provide the essential protection and functionality while preserving the open character of the terrace.
