AVC Build designed, supplied, delivered and installed two made-to-measure wall-mounted aluminium canopies for different exits at the same residential property in Westport, Co. Mayo. Both grey structures use polycarbonate roofing and integrated rainwater drainage. One creates an open-sided sheltered rear terrace, while the second protects a separate entrance and includes a customised partial side wall combining polycarbonate with tongue-and-groove aluminium panels.

Two Wall-Mounted Canopies for Different Areas of the Home
The homeowner required two different areas of the property to be protected without making the exterior feel enclosed. At the rear, an open-sided wall-mounted canopy covers the terrace and creates a more comfortable place for outdoor seating and relaxation. The polycarbonate roof provides overhead rain protection while allowing natural daylight to reach the area beside the house.
A second wall-mounted canopy was installed at another entrance. This smaller structure protects the doorway and circulation area and includes a customised side enclosure. The upper section uses polycarbonate while tongue-and-groove aluminium panels close the lower section, providing additional protection at the exposed side without making the entrance unnecessarily dark.
Both structures incorporate integrated rainwater drainage within the aluminium system. Water is collected at roof level and directed through the structures rather than falling directly around the entrance and terrace areas.
There was no prepared structural base at the support positions. Selected sections of the existing paved surface were opened so dedicated concrete foundations could be formed beneath the paving. The support posts were then secured to these structural bases rather than relying on the paving slabs themselves.
The matching grey aluminium frames give both structures a consistent appearance despite their different functions and detailing. AVC Build completed the design, made-to-measure supply, delivery and professional installation, and both completed canopies are supported by a 10-year warranty.
