AVC Build designed, supplied, delivered and professionally installed this made-to-measure wall-mounted aluminium pergola at a residential property in Galway. The structure was added over the existing patio to provide reliable overhead protection from rain while keeping the outdoor area open to the surrounding garden.
The anthracite aluminium frame supports a transparent polycarbonate roof, allowing natural daylight to continue reaching the patio and the rear of the house. Lighting was also incorporated into the project so the covered area remains practical after daylight hours.

Bright, Open Patio Cover with Polycarbonate Roof and Lighting
The aim of this Galway project was to make the existing patio less dependent on dry weather without turning it into an enclosed room. A wall-mounted aluminium pergola provided permanent overhead cover while allowing the exposed sides of the patio to remain completely open.
The transparent polycarbonate roof was selected to protect the area from rain while maintaining a bright connection with the rear of the home. Unlike an opaque roof, the transparent panels allow daylight to continue entering the covered patio and adjacent windows and doors.
The anthracite aluminium frame creates a defined covered area without requiring glazing or solid side walls. Keeping the sides open preserves straightforward movement between the house, patio and garden and maintains the outdoor character of the space.
Lighting was included as part of the project, extending the practical use of the covered patio beyond daylight hours. This gives the homeowner a sheltered outdoor area that can be used for both daytime and evening activities without changing the open-sided configuration.
Rainwater is managed through the drainage system incorporated into the aluminium structure. The patio base was prepared by the client before installation, while AVC Build completed the design, made-to-measure supply, delivery and professional installation of the pergola.
