AVC Build measured, manufactured, delivered and installed this wall-mounted aluminium pergola for a residential property in Cork City. The made-to-measure structure combines an anthracite aluminium frame, a fixed polycarbonate roof, integrated rainwater drainage and a solid privacy wall. A custom sealed opening was also formed around an existing external pipe so it could pass through the new roof without being relocated.

Custom Roof Opening for an Existing External Pipe
The homeowner wanted a wall-mounted pergola with a fixed polycarbonate roof to create a permanently covered patio beside the house. The main technical consideration was an existing external pipe that needed to pass through the new roof rather than be relocated.
Polycarbonate was selected as a practical roof material for this requirement. Compared with forming the same detail through a glass roof, the dedicated opening could be prepared more simply around the existing pipe. The roof panel was carefully formed around the pipe and the junction was sealed on all sides to maintain weather protection.
The anthracite aluminium structure was installed on the prepared concrete-paved base using U-profile fixings. A solid side wall was incorporated to provide additional privacy and protection on one side of the patio, while integrated gutters and concealed drainage manage rainwater within the pergola system.
The combination of the wall-mounted configuration, fixed roof and privacy wall creates a more sheltered outdoor area while the opposite sides remain accessible from the surrounding property. The custom roof detail allowed the existing building services to remain in place rather than requiring unnecessary alteration.
AVC Build completed the site measurement, manufactured the pergola to the confirmed project dimensions, delivered it to Cork and carried out the installation. The completed made-to-measure pergola was supplied with a 10-year warranty.
