AVC Build designed, supplied, delivered and professionally installed this made-to-measure wall-mounted aluminium pergola at a residential property in Ennis, County Clare, in 2026. The project combines a fixed polycarbonate roof with a full-height black aluminium tongue-and-groove side wall positioned along the neighbour-facing side of the patio.
The roof provides permanent protection from rain while keeping the covered area naturally bright. The aluminium side wall adds privacy and additional shelter from the exposed side without enclosing the remaining sides of the patio.

Sheltered Patio with a Boundary-Side Aluminium Wall
The objective of this Ennis project was to create a more protected outdoor area beside the house while also improving privacy along the side facing the neighbouring property. A conventional open-sided pergola would have provided overhead rain protection, but it would not have addressed the exposed boundary side.
The made-to-measure aluminium pergola therefore combines two separate forms of protection. The fixed polycarbonate roof covers the patio from above, while a full-height black aluminium tongue-and-groove wall provides additional shelter and screening along one side.
The polycarbonate roof was selected as a practical and cost-effective solution for permanent weather protection. It keeps useful daylight beneath the structure while reducing the direct intensity of summer light compared with a completely open patio.
The aluminium side wall was installed close to the existing boundary fence without causing problems during installation. Its tongue-and-groove construction creates a solid continuous screen while matching the permanent, low-maintenance character of the aluminium pergola structure.
The remaining sides were intentionally left open so that the covered area continues to connect naturally with the garden. Rainwater is handled through the drainage system integrated into the pergola, while the existing base had been prepared by the client before installation.
