The anthracite structure covers the rear patio with a fixed transparent polycarbonate roof while leaving the sides open.

Rain-Protected Open Patio with a Transparent Polycarbonate Roof
The purpose of this project was to provide reliable overhead protection for an existing rear patio without turning it into an enclosed outdoor room. A wall-mounted aluminium pergola allowed the covered area to begin directly at the house and extend across the patio.
The fixed transparent polycarbonate roof protects the area below from rainfall while allowing daylight to continue passing through the roof. This keeps the covered patio visually open and maintains natural light around the rear doors and windows.
The anthracite aluminium frame was made to measure for the existing patio layout. The pergola remains open on its outer sides, preserving straightforward access between the covered area and the rest of the garden.
No additional side walls or glazing systems were required for this installation. The project therefore focuses on overhead weather protection while retaining the character of an open residential patio.
Rainwater is managed through the drainage system integrated into the aluminium structure. The existing base was prepared by the client, while AVC Build completed the design, made-to-measure supply, delivery and professional installation.
