Wall-Mounted Polycarbonate Pergola in Tuam, Co. Galway

Polycarbonate Roof with a Wood-Effect Aluminium Side Wall

The homeowner wanted to transform an exposed area behind the house into a more practical space for different everyday activities. The wall-mounted layout uses the rear elevation efficiently while keeping direct access from the house and garden.

A translucent polycarbonate roof provides permanent overhead protection from rain while allowing natural daylight to reach the covered area. Its light-diffusing surface softens direct sunshine and creates more even illumination beneath the structure.

The defining feature is the full-height side enclosure. Interlocking tongue-and-groove aluminium panels close one exposed side of the pergola, helping to increase shelter and privacy. Their detailed wood-effect finish introduces the warmer visual character of timber while remaining fully integrated with the aluminium system.

The black frame forms a clean contrast with the wood-effect panels and the lighter polycarbonate roof. The remaining sides stay open, preserving straightforward movement between the covered area and the garden rather than turning it into a fully enclosed room.

The installation photographs show the made-to-measure aluminium frame before the roof and side panels were added. Each section was aligned to the available rear space so the finished enclosure followed the property boundary and connected neatly with the house.

AVC Build completed the design, made-to-measure supply, delivery and professional installation. The completed pergola provides a protected multipurpose area for the household and is supported by a 10-year warranty.
