Weather Protection for a Side Entrance and External Equipment
The homeowner required a permanent roof over the narrow service area beside the house. The canopy needed to protect the side entrance as well as the heating oil storage tanks and associated external equipment, allowing the area to be accessed more comfortably throughout the year.
A made-to-measure wall-mounted configuration allowed the structure to fit between the house and the existing boundary wall. The open sides preserve straightforward access through the passage while the overhead roof provides protection from rain.
Clear polycarbonate was selected for the roof so the enclosed side area would remain naturally bright. The lightweight translucent covering provides practical weather protection without making the narrow passage feel unnecessarily dark or enclosed.
The black aluminium frame was designed around the existing entrance and equipment. The nearby pipework remained in place and did not create installation difficulties, while the completed roof protects the service area without obstructing access for future inspection or maintenance.
