Weather-Protected Aluminium Garden Room in Roscommon
The homeowner wanted to transform an existing patio beside the house into a more comfortable outdoor living area with greater protection from Ireland’s changing weather. The main requirements were protection from rain and wind while keeping the space bright and connected visually with the garden.
The made-to-measure white aluminium structure was attached directly to the house and designed around the existing patio. The rear and right-hand sides use the existing walls of the property, while the exposed left side was enclosed with fixed safety glass.
A milk polycarbonate roof was selected to provide permanent overhead protection while allowing diffused natural light into the covered area. It also helps reduce direct sunlight and UV exposure, making the patio more comfortable during brighter weather without creating a dark enclosed space.
The front of the garden room was completed with two sliding glass door systems. These doors can be opened during suitable weather to connect the room directly with the garden and closed when additional protection from wind and rain is required.
AVC Build completed the design, made-to-measure supply, delivery and professional installation of the aluminium structure, polycarbonate roof, fixed safety glass and sliding glass systems. The concrete patio base had already been prepared by the client before installation, and the completed structure is supported by a 10-year structural warranty.
