AVC Build designed, manufactured, supplied, delivered and installed this made-to-measure enclosed aluminium carport garage at a residential property in Monkstown, Dublin, in 2026. The black structure combines a multiwall polycarbonate roof, solid aluminium tongue-and-groove walls and a Diamond-shaped aluminium slatted garden-facing wall, while the property’s existing automatic roller shutter was retained and incorporated into the finished layout.

Creating an Enclosed Carport Around an Existing Garage Entrance
This project required more than simply installing a roof over an existing driveway. The aim was to create a substantially enclosed vehicle area while retaining the property’s existing garage entrance and automatic roller shutter as part of the final configuration.
The new black aluminium structure was made to measure around the available space. Solid tongue-and-groove aluminium panels form the principal side enclosures, providing substantially greater protection from wind and rain than an open carport.
On the garden-facing side, a Diamond-shaped aluminium slatted wall was used instead of a completely solid panel. This creates a defined boundary and additional screening while retaining gaps through the aluminium slats.
A separate pedestrian door was incorporated into the enclosure so the carport can be entered without operating the main roller shutter. This provides more convenient everyday access to the enclosed area and any equipment stored inside.
The existing automatic roller shutter was retained rather than replaced. The new structure therefore had to be carefully coordinated with the existing entrance and shutter assembly, with installation carried out around those retained elements rather than disturbing them unnecessarily.
A multiwall polycarbonate roof provides permanent overhead protection while admitting daylight into the enclosed space. Rainwater is collected through the drainage system integrated into the aluminium structure.
AVC Build completed the 3D design, manufacture, supply, delivery, assembly and complete installation. The finished structure is supported by a 10-year warranty.
