AVC Build designed, supplied, delivered and professionally installed this made-to-measure wall-mounted aluminium entrance canopy at a residential property in Dublin in 2026. The structure was installed over the rear entrance and adjoining patio area to provide permanent protection from rain while maintaining an open connection with the garden.
The black aluminium frame supports a fixed glass roof, creating a bright sheltered area beside the house. The canopy remains open on its exposed sides, so access between the rear entrance, patio and garden is not restricted.

Sheltering a Rear Entrance with a Fixed Glass Roof
The purpose of this Dublin project was to create permanent weather protection directly outside the rear entrance without enclosing the patio or separating it from the garden. A wall-mounted canopy provided the required overhead shelter while preserving the open layout around the property.
The fixed glass roof protects the entrance and adjoining paved area from rainfall while allowing daylight to continue reaching the rear of the house. This makes the covered area feel brighter than it would beneath an opaque roof and maintains the visual connection between the interior, patio and garden.
The black aluminium frame was made to measure for the available space. Particular attention was required around the existing wall and boundary fence, with the support posts positioned as close as possible to these elements without damaging the surrounding structures.
No additional side walls, glazing systems or screens were required. The open-sided configuration preserves straightforward pedestrian access and keeps the installation visually lighter around the rear entrance.
Rainwater is managed through the drainage system integrated into the aluminium structure. The existing paved area had already been prepared by the client, while AVC Build completed the design, made-to-measure supply, delivery and professional installation. The completed structure is supported by a 10-year structural warranty.
